Dr. Ragland T. Selvaraj holds an M.A. from Madurai Kamaraj University (MKU). He earned a B.D. from Tamilnadu Theological Seminary (TTS), Madurai, where his thesis focused on “The Concept of Nations in the Prophetical Books.” He pursued an M.Th. at Gurukul Lutheran Theological College and Research Institute, Chennai, with a thesis titled “Qedeshot” (Sacred or Consecrated Women) in Israel and the Devadasi System in Tamilnadu: A Comparison and Evaluation. Dr. Ragland completed his D. Th. at The United Theological College (UTC), Bengaluru, under The Senate of Serampore College (University). His doctoral dissertation was titled “A Socio-Historical Analysis of Exploitive Mechanisms on Peasants in Pre-Exilic Israel and Their Effects on the Nuclear Family.”

Dr. Ragland’s research interests include Ancient Near Eastern Prophecy and the Prophetic Movement in the Old Testament. His scholarly pursuits reflect a deep engagement with biblical texts and their socio-historical contexts, contributing to the broader understanding of theological and historical studies.

In addition to his academic achievements, Dr. Ragland has been serving as an ordained pastor since 2011 in the Diocese of Madurai-Ramnad (Church of South India). His pastoral ministry is characterized by a strong commitment to congregational care and community service, which complements his academic and teaching roles.
